Course overview

You see the client more hours than anyone else on the team, and you notice things nobody else does. This professional development event is about turning that information into something your BCBA and the wider treatment team can act on, while staying within your role.

We work through the language to use when a program is not working, how to describe what you observed instead of what you concluded, and what to do when a teacher, caregiver, or another provider asks you a question that belongs to your supervisor.

Learning objectives

After completing this event, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the RBT scope of practice as it applies to team meetings, caregiver questions, and program changes.
  • Report observations objectively and separate description from interpretation when communicating with a supervisor.
  • Identify when a situation must be escalated to the supervising BCBA immediately.
  • Use a structured script to raise a concern about a program that is not working.

Intended audience

  • Registered Behavior Technicians working in home, clinic, or school settings
  • RBTs preparing for their first interdisciplinary or IEP meeting
  • RBTs who want structured practice communicating with a supervising BCBA

This is an RBT professional development event. BCBAs and BCaBAs cannot earn Learning CEUs from it.
