Course overview

Interdisciplinary teams fall apart in predictable ways: competing goals, incompatible vocabularies, and nobody willing to say who owns the decision. This course gives you language and structure for the meetings you are already sitting in.

You will practice translating behavior-analytic recommendations for non-behavioral colleagues, resolving goal conflicts without pulling rank, and building shared documentation that everyone actually uses.

Learning objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the scope-of-practice boundaries that shape collaboration with SLPs, OTs, educators, and medical providers.
  • Translate behavior-analytic terminology and recommendations into language non-behavioral team members can act on.
  • Identify common sources of goal conflict on interdisciplinary teams and select a resolution strategy for each.
  • Apply a structured agenda for interdisciplinary meetings that produces documented, assignable next steps.
  • Evaluate collaborative outcomes using measures the whole team agrees are meaningful.

Intended audience

  • BCBAs and BCaBAs on school-based or clinic-based interdisciplinary teams
  • Clinical leads coordinating care with outside providers
  • Practitioners preparing for IEP or care-team meetings

RBTs may take this course for general professional learning, but this activity does not award BACB RBT PDUs unless specifically identified as an RBT professional-development event.
